Project Details
- Mentor 2-4 mentees for the duration of a cycle which is 2-3 months, investing a max of 10 hours.
- We do 4 cycles of group mentoring per year
- We provide training for mentors, best practices on how to be a great mentor
- We also provide an intro session to mentees to help align their expectations of the group mentoring program
- Time and time again Mentors and Mentees have incredible success stories, from cultivating strong relationships to helping find their dream job and career
- The ripple effects of Mentoring are unstoppable as we have seen several times where a mentee becomes a mentor due to the great example of their previous mentor
The Right Volunteer
- Most Mentors have 3 or more years of work experience in Canada (although this is not a must)
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective and cooperative working relationships built on trust
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable making decisions independently
- Ability to manage a wide range of relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Help build rapport each time he or she meets with their mentees
- Ask open-ended “how” and “what” questions with their mentees
- Challenge and/or encourage a mentee depending on what the situation requires
- Offer opportunities to problem solve and exchange ideas
- Provide feedback that is constructive, honest, open, and positive
- Take a genuine interest in helping their mentees succeed
- Present ideas or opportunities to their mentees that may not have recognized on his/her own
- Provide suggestions to the best of one’s knowledge that helps the mentee reach their goals
- Meeting virtually

Project Plan
Prep
- Mentors and Mentees take the onboarding digital course and orientation session
- Mentors get to know their group
- Define the meetings frequency, rules of the group, action plan, and what success looks like at the end of the cycle
Milestone 1 - Meetings
- Conduct video meetings with the group
- Follow up with the mentees as needed
Milestone 2 - Midpoint check-in
- The Group Mentoring Program coordinator will follow up with the Mentor to see how everything is going and if there is anything the mentor needs
- Candid constructive feedback is always welcome
Milestone 3 - Feedback
- Close to the end, the Group Mentoring Program coordinator will follow up with the Mentor and the Mentees to understand how their experience has been with the program
- Candid constructive feedback is always welcome
- Share with the leadership team any lessons learned and feedback received from mentees
- Recommend to the leadership team the top 3 changes we should add to the Group Mentoring Program
How to Apply?
Step 1: Inquire
Tell us more about yourself by using the Online Registration Form.
Step 2: Interview
We will follow up with you to have a quick touchpoint and discuss how our and your interests align.
Step 3: Contribution
Mentors will have frequent follow-ups with their mentees and attend (if needed) other volunteering meetings. The time commitment to Mentor varies but usually is around 10 hours during the 2-3 months group mentoring cycle.
Step 4: Recognition
