On May 4th, 2019, UnstoppableMe celebrated its 4th Anniversary
It was a great opportunity to recognize all the amazing work we do together to help newcomers and immigrants succeed.
Before starting, some slides with testimonials were shown:
Shalini K., content editor and English language instructor:
I got in touch with UnstoppableMe while I was still in India and was getting ready to migrate to Canada. I thank them for giving me loads of useful information to help me get a clear picture of what lay ahead.
Kunal M., strategy & management consultant:
I am thankful to UnstoppableMe, Liliana, Jane and the team who were my first mentors in a totally unfamiliar country. It is through UnstoppableMe I understood the importance of Networking and how important is it to have a mentor who can vouch, support, and guide you. The team tirelessly helped me over the weekends, after their working hours on weekdays, helped in arranging meetings with other people, making me confident and believe in myself when times were testing. Ranging from mock interviews to giving a hug, UnstoppableMe did it all. UnstoppableMe truly Rocks!
Priyankar G., project manager:
UnstoppableMe provided me a platform with like-minded people who help each other develop and grow. It’s always advantageous to learn from people who know the rules of the game and have succeeded. The difference with UM is that you get 1-on-1 attention from the mentors and group members. I thank Liliana for introducing me to this wonderful group.
Aman K., finance professional, writing from Singapore:
Just wanted to share that I got an offer from HSBC in Vancouver and will be starting work first week of May – I’m getting ready to move there! Thanks for all your help and advice along the way.
To start, Liliana Nakamura, current President of the organization, talked about the exponential growth since 2015 and current state of members and programs.
After that, the Founder, Miguel Abascal presented the A.S.A.P. Survey which was made with one of the grants awarded by the Government of Ontario. ASAP is our acronym for Accelerate Success, Advancement and Progress. The survey’s objective is to assess people’s readiness for the job market in Canada, and can be taken before landing or as a newcomer. It takes approx. 10 minutes to complete, and the results are shown on an online dashboard that compares one’s efforts against the behaviours and attitudes of successful immigrants.
Later, we celebrated our volunteers and partners by giving them a token of appreciation, and there was time to network with all attendees.
Thank you everyone for coming and helping us build a successful organization!!!
